Splinter cell remake trailer update#
The game is still in the early stages of development and according to Matt West, the development team will be “building it from the ground up, we’re going to update it visually, as well as some of the design elements to match player comfort and expectations, and we are going to keep it linear like the original games, not make it open world.
Oddly enough, the developer had pitched an idea to turn Splinter Cell open-world just seven years prior. According to a leak its in process in a Ubisoft studio other than the one in Montreal. The last entry in the Splinter Cell series, Blacklist, was not open-world, and it felt like an anomaly among Ubisoft's other games in 2013. Splinter Cell Remake will not be a remastered version of the game that came out 19 years ago. Ubisoft has revealed that a Splinter Cell remake is in development. Led by Ubisoft Toronto, the game will be rebuilt from the ground up using Ubisoft’s own Snowdrop engine – the same engine being used to develop Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, as well as Ubisoft’s upcoming Star Wars game – to deliver new-generation visuals and gameplay, and the dynamic lighting and shadows the series is known for. Ubisoft has greenlit the development of a Splinter Cell remake that will draw from the rich canvas of the brand. Ubisoft has officially announced that they are working on a Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell remake. Let’s just assume it will be released in late 2022 or early 2023. The most recent title in the franchise was 2013's 'Splinter Cell Blacklist.'. Sadly, Ubisoft did not announce any specifics as to what platforms the game will be released to or when it will be released.
